Church in Island Grove, IL

A few days ago, my mom an I were on the road and trad to take the back way to get from one town to the next to avoid a lengthy wait in road construction. (We sat for over 15 min on the way there). In the process, we saw some great scenery in the area. My camera was busy the whole time - don't worry my mom was driving.

In the process, we got a little turned around and ended up going kinda out of the way. We saw a church and a water tower and though that must be a town. Well, it was, but not much of one. It was just a church, water tower and small school with a few houses around. This is the church in this photo.

Although it may not look that old, it was originally built in 1902 according to the sign in front. The photo I originally took was, to be honest, pretty boring. So I decided I'd Photoshop it to make it look like it was front 1902 when it was built.

Rocky Outcrop

Continuing with my series of photos taken at Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois' Shawnee National Forest. the many trails and paths that wind around the park are very diverse. Some are very easy and others are quite a workout.

Taking the more difficult trails doesn't come without its rewards. You get to see some of the most interesting and ancient rock formations in the central United States. Some are rounded and others are very steep. Its like a totally new topography around every corner.

This image depicts one of the many rocky outcrops along the trails. The whole area is like a completely different world in so many ways.

Leaf

This photo begins a series of photographs taken on a recent trip to the Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois' Shawnee National Forest. The area has such a unique and diverse topography. from rolling hills and placid lakes to fast flowing rivers and steep cliffs. Every time I go there, I find some new and spectacular place I never saw before.

This photo is of a leaf I saw floating in a small puddle in one of the unusual rounded rock formations. I really never have been able to explain it, but there was just something about it that struck me as interesting.
