After the rain

I love to take pictures after it rains. It just seems like everything has a glow to it that it doesn't at other times. This photo was taken of a Rose-of-Sharon blossom, similar to a hibiscus, that grows behind my house. I have another photo I may post, but not sure yet.

Daisy Photograph

A detailed photograph of a daisy bloom showing the contrast of the bright white petals and the bold orange center against a dark green background. This would make a great picture to give to anyone who loves gardening or flowers.

Lightning Bug

Well its officially summer here and the lightning bugs (or you might call them fireflies) are out in swarms. I saw this one just sitting on a leaf in the afternoon sun waiting for it to set so it can go out in search of its friends or whatever those little bugs do all night.

Rocky Outcrop

Continuing with my series of photos taken at Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois' Shawnee National Forest. the many trails and paths that wind around the park are very diverse. Some are very easy and others are quite a workout.

Taking the more difficult trails doesn't come without its rewards. You get to see some of the most interesting and ancient rock formations in the central United States. Some are rounded and others are very steep. Its like a totally new topography around every corner.

This image depicts one of the many rocky outcrops along the trails. The whole area is like a completely different world in so many ways.

Leaf

This photo begins a series of photographs taken on a recent trip to the Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois' Shawnee National Forest. The area has such a unique and diverse topography. from rolling hills and placid lakes to fast flowing rivers and steep cliffs. Every time I go there, I find some new and spectacular place I never saw before.

This photo is of a leaf I saw floating in a small puddle in one of the unusual rounded rock formations. I really never have been able to explain it, but there was just something about it that struck me as interesting.
