I've been trying out new things with Apophysis. I found a long and fairly useful list of tutorials that I have been looking at and have found several new techniques that I'm working on mastering. One of these is making those cool like making tiled images that I see around the net(and LOVE).

CHAINMAILLE - 2 in 2 Stainless Steel Chain.
Added another item to my Etsy shop. After breaking my wrist, I'm finally feeling more like make more chainmaille again.
This necklace is a heavier 2 in 2 chain made from 16g 3/8" stainless steel. It looks heavy, but doesn't feel that heavy on your neck. Currently it has a strong hook clasp but can be changed for a toggle (bar in loop) clasp. If you prefer a lobster claw clasp, the processing time will be longer, because I don't currently have a larger size that will work for this chain and would have to order it.
The size can be adjusted upon request from its current 22" to whatever length you would like free of charge as long as it is not too much longer (shorter is always free). Just let me know in the special request section of the order form.

CHAINMAIL - 4 in 1 Chainmail Bracelet
I've been working on getting my Etsy shop up and running again. It features mostly hand made chainmaille. My latest addition is a simple 4 in 1 European wave bracelet in 1/8" stainless steel. Width is just under an inch and 7 1/2" in length. as with all my designs, the width can easily be adjusted for free when ordering, just send me a message in the special requests section of the order form and let me know what length you would like. Currently, this bracelet has a toggle clasp (also called bar and loop) but can be changed for a s-hook or lobster claw clasp if you would like but may add to the processing time.
Please feel free to stop by my Etsy shop and check out this as well as my other chainmail jewelry designs. If you have a special request for a design that you don't see in my shop, please send me a message and I'll get back to you right away.
DESIGN TOOL - Mandelbulb 3D
So what exactly does it do?
Well, it generates and renders 3D versions of the classic Mandelbrot fractal set, called a Mandelbulb, as well as a long list of others. It can combine them in various manners, add lighting, fog, shadows, colors, reflections. The latest version also has a great 3D navigation tool that makes it really easy to maneuver around your creation to find the perfect shot to render.
It is super easy to share parameters as well. Just copy them to the clip board like any other text and then use the button at the top to open the parameters from you clipboard text into the file you have open.
You can find plenty of parameters in the forums I linked to above (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php), or on deviantART. Just search for Mandelbulb3D and you're sure to find some. Please respect the people that have shared these parameters. DON'T JUST STEAL THEM AS YOUR OWN.
After a bit of reading and some playing around with parameters, this was what I came up with:

FRACTAL ART - Phantom
Again created with Tierazon, this fractal design seems to have 2 separate images. Like a phanton image is layered over the tops of the origianl artwork. It appeards to have lots of depth and I hope the colors look ok to everyone else ( I am somewhat colorblind so sometimes I have trouble with that).
As always, this llink points to the poster on Zazzle, but you can find it on many different gift items. If you can't find it on the one you want or would like it changed somehow, use the link in my Zazzle store to send me a message and I'll post it as soon as I can for you.

FRACTAL ART - Rainbow Road
I found a new tool on Tierazon. The inside-out view. I always knew it was there, but had not played with it much. It totally changes the look of your fractal so if you want a specific image, it would be best to save it first before you test out the inside-out feature.
After paying with a few settings and color schemes, I was really getting nowhere and decided what was the worst that could happen. I hit inside out and POOF I had something I actually liked. To me it feels a bit like a painting or something, not really sure how to describe it.
FRACTAL ART - Tree of Life.
Here is my newest fractal creation. I played with the colors in Photoshop a bit to make it more interesting. The original was all one color. I think it has something to do with the fact that I had played with the formula a bit.
Anyway, this was created with Tierazon and had a rendering time of about 20 min on my slow computer.
I hope everyone likes it. Please feel free to let me know what you think of it.
Zazzle Profile Cards - A unique tool.
Looking for a unique way to give out your information? Zazzle has these skinny 3" x 1" business cards (they call them profile cards). A very unique way to hand out your business or even personal information. With several different paper styles, you have plenty of options to customize your look. One of the available paper options is called indestructible. Although I have not personally tested this out, I have been told that they are strong enough to be used as a guitar pic.
I have several designs of these skinny business (profile) cards in my Zazzle shop. Feel free to check them out or make your own. If you would like me to custom design one for you, please contact me through the link in the sidebar of my Zazzle store and let me know.
Just a Rose
I have always loved to take photos of just about everything around me. This picture features a pink orange rose that is in my grandma's rose garden. She passed away a few years ago, but I still call it her rose garden because I know she enjoyed seeing it as she was riding down the driveway.
The particular rosebush was one of her favorites. Her favorite color was peach and this Peace rose was that perfect color. I added slight blur to soften the background around the rose and bring the center of the bloom into the center of attention. I added a subtle bokeh effect to to balance the image. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think. If you really like this image, you can find it on several different items in my Zazzle store.Wednesday, June 1, 2011
